- How do I enroll my child?
If you would like your child to participate in Japan Spelling Bee, you should first contact their school to see if the school has enrolled or are planning to enroll. Only schools can register. Individuals cannot register. Schools are required to register BOTH at the Scripps National Spelling Bee website ( spellingbee.com ) AND at Japan Spelling Bee website.
- How can schools enroll in Japan Spelling Bee?
Please register BOTH at the Scripps National Spelling Bee website and
at Japan Spelling Bee website before the deadline.
- Is it possible for home-schooled students to enroll in Japan Spelling Bee?
Yes.
Home-schooled students compete in the spelling bee contest of
his/her affiliated school, which means the affiliated school needs
to be enrolled in the Spelling Bee.
- How do schools pay for the registration fee?
Schools can pay the registration fee only through the Scripps National Spelling Bee website by credit card. Please refer to the Scripps National Spelling Bee website.

- Is there any support for travel expenses to attend
Japan Spelling Bee and the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.?
We support the round-trip travel expenses and 6 nights’ hotel accommodation fees up to ¥499,999 in total for only the winner of Japan Spelling Bee and one escort to attend the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.
No other expenses are provided.

- How do I obtain study materials?
You can obtain study materials from the Scripps National
Spelling Bee website.
◇ Contest day ◇
- Do you have any dress code?
We recommend that spellers dress smart casual or in their school uniforms on the day of the Bee. Please be reminded that photographs are taken of the spellers for The Japan Times and other publications both in and outside Japan.
